PE Funding

During the last year we have used a number of specialist teachers to work alongside the teaching staff in order to deliver high quality teaching and learning and develop the confidence and skills of the children in Physical Education and Games.

All Primary Schools in the country have been allocated a Primary PE and Sports Grant beginning in the academic year 2013/2014.  This funding must be used to fund improvement to the provision of PE and Sport, for the benefit of pupils aged 5-11 years old, so that pupils can develop healthy lifestyles.

We have also used the funding to meet the cost of swimming lessons for all children in Years 2 -5 and to reduce the cost of the residential trip to YHA Edale to pursue outdoor and adventurous activities.

Throughout the year, all classes have taken part in a variety of festivals and tournaments (tag rugby, football, netball, basketball and swimming) organised within the cluster and the wider area.

During the summer term (and for the year 2014/15) we have and will continue to employ a member of Ryedale School’s PE department (our local secondary school) to teach PE alongside our staff.  In the summer term we concentrated on athletics and tennis.
