Class 3: Years 3 and 4

Class 32 is our Lower Key Stage 2 Class, for children in Year 3 and Year 4.

The class teacher is Claire Owuor.

She is ably supported by experienced teaching support assistant Anne Minister.

Maths

To meet the statutory requirements from the New Curriculum, by the end of Year 3, children are expected to know, by heart & with instant recall, the multiplication & division facts for the:

  • 2x, 5x & 10x tables (revision of Year 2)

  • 3x, 4x & 8x tables

To meet the statutory requirements from the New Curriculum, by the end of Year 4, children are expected to know, by heart & with instant recall, the multiplication & division facts for the:

  • 2x, 5x & 10x tables (revision of Year 2)

  • 3x, 4x & 8x tables (revision of Year 3)

  • 6x, 7x, 9x, 11x & 12x

As well as continued practice at school it would benefit your child if you could also help them to learn their multiplication and division facts at home.

Homework

In addition to reading and times table practice, a small piece of homework, to consolidate learning, is given out every week in the Learning Journals and will usually alternate between Maths and English. There will be an extension (EXT) to further extend the learning of those children who enjoy an extra challenge. Year 4 children especially should always attempt the extension.

Learning Journals will be sent home each Friday and should be returned the following Wednesday.
